Sculpture, 2003 -2007
This body of work focused on organic forms inspired by natural abodes such as urchins, cocoons, nests, hives, and barnacles employing handmade methods and simple materials. These life size forms sometimes acquire human characteristics such as fleshy bulges, and tongues. Many pieces open up to interiors which host surprising color and texture. Others are overlaid with hand drawn patterns, or embroidered details. These shapes use pattern, color, multiples, and texture to produce polarities such as interior/exterior, natural/artificial, one/many, attraction/repulsion and predator/prey.
