In “Hive”, a soft flocked concavity provides an opposition for the hard convex surface. Inspired by wasp nests, this form is overlaid with a repetitive honeycomb pattern hand drawn in chalk. The smudged marks hold the piece’s history and are a reminder of the materials impermanence. The intricate pattern will eventually erase, and must be redrawn again and again.
